Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday said the Bangladesh Bank woke up late to deal with the Hall-Mark loan scam though the issue came to light in 2010.
“They (Bangladesh Bank) did nothing in 2011 and woke up in 2012. It proves that the central bank is not capable enough,” Muhith told reporters after a meeting of the cabinet committee on purchase at the Secretariat.
Muhith also said another World Bank team will visit Bangladesh next month to see the progress of handling the corruption allegation in Padma bridge project.
He also shared his experience on the Padma bridge project funding and release of second instalment of International Monetary Fund-loan that he gathered from recently concluded annual general meeting of the World Bank in Tokyo.
