Govt happy with declining border killing by BSF!

Lt Col Manjurul Alam, commanding officer of 9 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion, said BSF troops of Daulatpur camp opened fire on Sanaul around 2:15pm while he was working at his paddy field.

Sanaul died on the spot, Manjurul said.

BGB members sent a letter to BSF authorities protesting the incident, the BGB officer said.

Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes in Delhi on Wednesday touched upon killing of Bangladesh nationals by Indian border security force (BSF) and said the border killing has tumbled over years, but it needs to come to zero level.

The India side, he said, has made a new proposal to involve local government bodies of both countries to manage borders.
