DoE enforcement drives fine Tk 30 million in June for pollution

The Department of Environment (DoE) has realised over Tk 30 million in fine from different business entities in June for pollution and violation of the environment protection law.

The environment watchdog in a media statement on Saturday said that its enforcement and monitoring department, led by its Director Mohammed Munir Chowdhury, realised Tk 30.2 million in fine and compensation in 39 incidents of environment pollution and violation of the environment protection law in 14 operations last month.

The drives were conducted in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Tangail, Manikganj and Munshiganj districts.

The offences include river pollution by discharging untreated toxic liquid filths into river waters, encroachment into river, destroy of farmlands by setting up of harmful brick kilns, installation of illegal housing project, air pollution, noise pollution and construction of multilevel apartment building in Dhaka by violating the environment protection law.
